Dining tips

Updated: 2017-11-07

There are two canteens in Chenggong campus, Zhiwei Dining Hall, located in Nanyuan, and Yuwei Dining Hall in Ziyuan. They are close to three student residences including Qiuyuan, while relatively far away from Huayuan. Both canteens have Muslim restaurants with tasty dishes.

Operation in the canteens begins at 7:30 am, when they offer steamed stuffed buns, fried bread sticks, rice noodles, porridge, soya-bean milk, pancakes and bread for breakfast. Rice and fried dishes, rice noodles, steamed stuffed buns and steamed buns are also served for lunch and supper. Ethnic and off-campus restaurants are available as well.

Normal dining windows close at 7:00 pm, but the canteens and Muslim restaurants at Nanyuan continue to offer fried rice and barbecue until 9:30 pm.

The dishes at the university's canteens have rational prices as meat dishes cost 2.2 to 8 yuan ($0.33 to $1.2), while vegetable dishes cost 0.6 to 1.5 yuan. A meal with one meat dish, two vegetable dishes and rice takes about 5 to 6 yuan and a more sumptuous dinner may cost about 10 yuan. Students need to return the dinner plates to the recycling carts. The campus card is necessary as cash is not accepted.

There are four canteens at Donglu campus, located in Donglu Yard, Dongeryuan, Dingxin Apartment and Beiyuan. The dinner time here is slightly different from the canteens at Chenggong campus, while the dishes and their prices are similar.
