In 2009, the school started to enroll students in its MTCSOL (Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) program. To date, it has cultivated nearly 200 Chinese and overseas students.
Goals
The school aims to develop international talents through extensive long-term cooperation projects with international well-known colleges and universities. Based on quality education resources and foreign language teachers and using internationally advanced teaching models for reference, it provides all-round supporting services from professional foundation courses, languages training, and credit transfer to visa services for students who plan to pursue bachelor’s degrees in foreign universities.
Majors
It has a Chinese language and literature major for undergraduates as well as a Chinese language advanced studies major.
The MTCSOL program's length is two years. In 2010, one year after it was initiated, it began to enroll Chinese postgraduates.
Faculty
The International School has over 30 full-time teachers, including three professors and six associate professors, four of whom have obtained a doctoral degree.
Most of the full-time teachers have teaching or advanced study experience in foreign countries such as the US, Spain, Australia and Italy.
In addition, the school has a part-time teacher's team with rich teaching experience who are widely involved in different disciplines and excellent in their own specialties.
Internationalization
Currently it averages over 20 projects involving the US, Australia, New Zealand, Italy and other foreign countries every school year.
Moreover, the school has practice and training bases in other countries, including Thailand, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Every year, it dispatches teachers and postgraduate volunteers for international promotion of the Chinese language.
The school's China-Canada talents are embedded in training and innovation projects that include world influential universities from North America, such as the University of Victoria and California State University Northridge, as their cooperation partners. Students of the projects learn basic theory and have practical training in international economics and trade and financial management, with a focus on innovation, application ability and wider international vision.
