Xiong Qinglai Scholarship

Aim

The scholarship was proposed in 1989 by Jiang Juyuan, wife of Xiong Qinglai(1893-1969), the noted mathematician and educator and Yunnan University’s deceased president, to commemorate the latter, carry forward his devotion to scientific research, and inspire the students to develop their abilities in an all-round way.

Target students

Excellent full-time students from schools involving science specialties and science majors from schools that enroll both liberal arts and science students.

Qualifications

1. The candidate must be well-behaved and abide by the laws and regulations. Their comprehensive evaluation score should be no less than 90 or pass the detailed evaluation by the school if they haven’t conducted comprehensive evaluation.

2. The candidate should be hard-working. The candidate’s score of each subject should be excellent.

3. The candidate must be healthy and active in physical training. The score should be no less than 85 in sports evaluation test. Those who haven’t attended the test will receive evaluation.

4. Besides the requirements on virtue, study and sports, the candidate should publish at least three theses or investigation (experiment) reports with original views in his/her major. One of them should be regarded of practical value, awarded or published at journals above the university-level, and the candidate has outstanding contribution in some aspect can be given priority for the scholarship.
