A delegation from the School of Ethnology and Sociology at Yunnan University (YNU) visited the University of Manchester as part of an academic exchange program which lasted from Nov 19 to 25.
The visit came at the invitation of Andrew Irving, director of the university’s Granada Center for Visual Anthropology (GCVA), where the YNU delegation received a warm welcome.
During the delegation’s stay in Manchester, they visited the university’s multimedia classrooms which were said to have cost 500,000 pounds ($633,177), with many of the group members impressed by the advanced teaching facilities there.
The YNU teachers also observed lectures on visual anthropology delivered by professors Andy Lawrence, Johannes Sjoberg and Andrew Irving.
In addition, the YNU representatives attended a workshop on VR technology, at which professors shared their experience of the teaching and research of visual anthropology and producing ethnography films.
