YNU scholar joins national talent program

Xie Cheng, a lecturer at the School of Software of Yunnan University (YNU), was included in a national talent program initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology, according to a recent list announced by the association. 

The organization welcomed 285 academics from institutions across the country for its most recent intake, with Xie the only Yunnan scholar to be honored by the program. 

Xie graduated from the software engineering department of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and is now dedicated to the research of intelligent manufacturing and smart heath care. He has published five papers that were included in the Science Citation Index (SCI), with his research findings cited more than 140 times. 

In addition, he has hosted several research projects, some of which were at provincial level 

The talent program was initiated by the China Association for Science and Technology in 2015, with the aim of providing financial support for young scholars under 32 years of age to continue their research. 

Winners of the research fund are selected by the affiliated academic organizations of the China Association for Science and Technology. Once they are part of the program, they will receive a cash subsidy of 150,000 yuan ($21,830) a year, with the support lasting for three years.
