A special edition of the Journal of Ethnopharmacology which collected a series of influential botany essays was recently published online, with the edition including two articles by He Jun, a botany researcher at Yunnan University (YNU) who also helped edit the edition.
Joining He as guest editors of the journal were Anthony Cunningham, an internationally-renowned ethnobotanist, and Yang Xuefei, a deputy researcher at Kunming Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
With a focus on increasing global trade and scarce resources, the special edition included articles designed to spur debate about issues relevant to the sustainable use of ethnological medicines in Asia. The edition included 23 papers by more than 30 contributors around the world.
As an independent author, He Jun published his article titled “Harvest and trade of caterpillar mushroom (Ophiocordyceps sinensis) and the implications for sustainable use in the Tibet Region of Southwest China”, in the journal.
Another article, which was written by He in partnership with two doctoral students at YNU, was also included in the publication –– “Crossing the roof of the world: Trade in medicinal plants from Nepal to China”.
He’s research has received support from the National Social Sciences Fund of China, the Natural Science Foundation of China and a social science support program funded by the Ministry of Education.
The Journal of Ethnopharmacology is dedicated to the exchange of information and understanding about humanity’s use of plants, fungi, animals, microorganisms and minerals and their biological and pharmacological effects based on the principles established through international conventions.
