Yunnan University lists 10 major scientific achievements in 2018

Updated: 2019-01-08

5. A research finding in chemical sciences by a team at the School of Chemical Engineering of Yunnan University (YNU) was honored by being published in Journal of Catalysis, a prestigious international journal, in September, 2018.

The first author of the paper titled “Ru/MnXCe1OY catalysts with enhanced oxygen mobility and strong metal-support interaction: Exceptional performances in 5-hydroxymethylfurfural base-free aerobic oxidation” is Gao Tianyu, a Masters degree student, and the corresponding author is his supervisor Fang Wenhao, associate professor of the chemical school.

The Journal of Catalysis is one of the world’s most influential journals in the field of physical chemistry and engineering. It is dedicated to publishing original, significant and systematic research findings in the area of catalysis.

The research project was subsidized by several programs, including the Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the special funds for introducing high-level professionals sponsored by the national fiscal department.

6. A finding by a Yunnan University (YNU) research team and a team from the Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) revealed the origin and population history of the golden snub-nosed monkey in November, 2018.

Titled “The origin and population history of the endangered golden snub-nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus roxellana),” the paper was published in Molecular Biology and Evolution, a world-renowned journal in the area of evolutionary biology.

The researcher, Yu Li, is the corresponding author of the paper, and Kuang Weimin is the first author of the paper. The research was financially supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
