PNAS reports YNU associate professor’s finding

A research finding by an associate professor from Yunnan University (YNU) in partnership with other foreign and domestic researchers was recently reported by the United States-based journal –– Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

Qiao Qin, an associate professor from YNU’s School of Agriculture, is listed as the co-first author of the paper titled “Genome of Crucihimalaya himalaica, a close relative of Arabidopsis, shows ecological adaptation to high altitude”. 

The research was completed by Qiao in partnership with researchers from the Kunming Institute of Botany at the Chinese academy of Sciences, Tibet University and the University of Ghent in Belgium.

The finding shows the ecological adaptation of the genome of Crucihimalaya himalaica, a plant grown in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, to high altitude environments.

Financial support for the project was provided by the Natural Science Foundation of China.
