YNU founds center to research Japanese law

Yunnan University (YNU) founded a new center to research the criminal law of Japan on March 18, with a ceremony held to mark the occasion.

The ceremony to mark the opening of the new center was hosted by Shen Shouwen, vice-dean of YNU’s School of Law, and attended by Matsubara Yoshihiro, a renowned professor from Waseda University and executive council member of the Criminal Law Society of Japan; Fu Liqing, professor at the law school of the People’s University of China; Gao Wei, dean of YNU’s School of Law, and a number of other YNU professors specializing in law studies.

Professor Gao started the ceremony with an opening speech in which he extended his welcome to professors Matsubara Yoshihiro and Fu Liqing.

He went on to outline current Sino-Japanese academic links in the field, saying that he hoped the founding of the new center would help improve research in the area at YNU. 

Professor Wang expressed his delight at being involved with the new center and urged the recruitment of academics who have studied in Japan.
