Yunnan University (YNU) students received awards at the 10th National Mathematics Competition for College Students in Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang province, from March 29 to 31.
The event was sponsored by the Chinese Mathematical Society and organized by the Harbin Institute of Technology.
Among the eight YNU contestants who made their way to the finals, one earned a second-place prize and six earned third-place prizes.
A total of 539 participants, including 220 math majors and 319 non-math majors, took part in the three-hour final.
The first National Mathematics Competition for College Students was held in 2019, and it has been held by the Chinese Mathematical Society annually ever since.
The contest is designed for undergraduates (with the exception of freshmen), and is divided into two categories: one for math majors and one for non-math majors.
The competition has become one of the most influential academic competitions in China, with the highest number of participants. A total of 138,832 people participated in this year’s event, with 0.38 percent making it to the finals.
