An academic board meeting of the Yunnan Key Laboratory for Plateau Ecology and Environmental Restoration of Yunnan University (YNU) convened on the university’s Chenggong campus on May 11.
Zhao Qi, vice-president of YNU, attended the symposium and delivered the opening remarks.
During the meeting, Wu Fengchang, academic of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, was appointed director of the laboratory’s academic board, andYNU professors Li Qingjun and Duan Changqun will serve as deputy directors.
The meeting was attended by members of the laboratory’s academic board, including Professor Zhou Qixing of Nankai University, Professor Yan Zhongling of Xiamen University, Researcher Liu Yongyan of Peking University, Professor Pan Bo of the Kunming University of Science and Technology, and Professor Li Yuan of Yunnan Agricultural University.
YNU Vice-President Zhao thanked all the scholars for their long-term support for YNU’s technical development and expressed hope that they would continue helping with research carried out by the Yunnan Key Laboratory for Plateau Ecology and Environmental Restoration.
Following the vice-president’s address, Professor Duan delivered a report on the laboratory’s work over the past year.
After the report, Wu delivered a lecture on revising China’s water quality standards, in which he discussed the importance of revising the standards and outlined the international community’s practices.
Another three scholars also delivered lectures on environmental protection.
More than 300 teachers and students were present at the symposium.
