A delegation led by Weng Tiehui, deputy education minister, visited Yunnan University (YNU) from May 24 to 25 to inspect the development of the university’s Double First-Rate Program, part of a national initiative aimed at developing world-class universities and disciplines.
On May 24, YNU held a meeting attended by Chen Shun, vice-governor of Yunnan, Su Yongzhong, deputy secretary-general of the Yunnan Provincial Government, Zhou Rong, director of the Yunnan Education Department, and Zhu Huashan, deputy director of the Yunnan Education Department.
Lin Wenxun, Party secretary of YNU, Fang Jingyun, president of YNU, and other YNU representatives attended the meeting.
Weng expressed her approval for a report delivered by a YNU representative on the university’s development of the Double First-Rate Program. She also made some suggestions on the future development of the program, noting that YNU should contribute to regional economic growth and social development.
Chen thanked the Ministry of Education on behalf of the Yunnan Provincial Government for its long-term support for YNU. He urged YNU executives to follow Weng’s suggestions and work harder to develop the university.
YNU Party Secretary Lin Wenxun pledged to work harder to build YNU into a world-class university.
