Yunnan University (YNU) held a roadshow to promote ecological sciences among middle and primary school students. An opening ceremony for the event was held at the Affiliated School of Kunming NSAU Research Institute on May 21.

Chen Suiyun, co-chairman of the YNU committee of the China Democratic League, and Geng Yupeng, member of the YNU committee of the China Democratic League, were responsible for organizing the event, which won support from YNU and the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the China Democratic League.

The science promotion program will run for a month, and will be themed around biodiversity, food, and health.

The program is aimed at helping students better understand how food and health are dependent on a healthy ecosystem.

The roadshow consists of activities such as lectures, exhibitions, and workshops, and will be held at a number of middle and primary schools throughout Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.

After the opening ceremony, Niu Yang, a doctoral degree holder working at the Kunming Institute of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a lecture entitled “Searching for the colors of botany”.

As Yunnan’s only university in the Double First-Rate Program, YNU has the ability and responsibility to promote science education, YNU officials said.

YNU has always encouraged democratic parties at the university to carry out activities that benefit society.
