Nani Maiya Sujakhu, a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Ethnic Studies and Social Sciences of Yunnan University (YNU), recently published her findings in Sustainability, a well-known international journal.

The Nepalese researcher’s paper was entitled “Assessing the Livelihood Vulnerability of Rural Indigenous Households to Climate Change in Central Nepal, Himalaya”.

In the paper’s abstract, the researcher said that they applied the Livelihood Vulnerability Index (LVI) to estimate household vulnerability (based on social group and gender) in farming communities in the Melamchi River Valley in Nepal.

“The study also visualizes complex adaptation pathways and analyzes the influence of gender and ethnicity on the abilities of households and communities to adapt to climate change”, the author continued in the abstract.

Nani Maiya Sujakhu was the primary author of the paper, while He Jun, Nani Maiya Sujakhu’s supervisor, was the secondary author.

The research project received financial support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Ministry of Education.

Sustainability is an international, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, and open access journal that focuses on the environmental, cultural, economic, and social sustainability of human beings.

The journal serves as an advanced forum for studies on sustainability and sustainable development, and is published online semi-monthly by the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI).
