YNU hosts World Environment Day activity

Yunnan University (YNU) hosted a World Environment Day activity on June 5.

The activity was sponsored by the Yunnan Department of the Environment, the Yunnan Civilization Authority, the Yunnan Department of Education, the Yunnan committee of the Communist Youth League, and the Yunnan Women’s Federation.

More than 800 representatives including officials, faculty, students, and media reporters attended the event.

Zhang Jihua, director of the Yunnan Department of the Environment, delivered a speech in which he called on the people of Yunnan to help protect the environment. 

Winners of a previous design competition aiming to promote environmental awareness among citizens received awards at the event. 

Artistic performances incorporating environmental elements were then given by students from universities and middle and primary schools.
