Students from Yunnan University’s (YNU) School of Dianchi Lake were recognized with 15 awards at the 10th Challenge Cup Yunnan College Students’ Extracurricular Science and Technology Festival, which recently came to a close.
The contest received 360 entries from more than 1,500 students from 33 universities and colleges throughout Yunnan province.
YNU contestants secured one special award, two second-class awards, one third-class award, and 11 excellence awards.
The project that won the special award is themed around preserving ancient Chinese villages from an anthropological perspective.
The contest’s top winners will qualify for the Challenge Cup National Extracurricular Scientific Contest.
The Challenge Cup National Extracurricular Scientific Contest is considered the most important scientific innovation contest for Chinese college students. It is sponsored by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, and the All-China Students’ Federation. It is co-hosted by Chinese elite universities and reputable media organizations.
