A biological discovery made by a Yunnan University (YNU) research team was published in the online journal Communications Biology on Sept 3.

The paper, entitled “Variation in appendages in early Cambrian bradoriids reveals a wide range of body plans in stem-euarthropods”, is a morphological study on bradoriid fossils unearthed in Chengjiang county, Yunnan province.

The paper was attributed to YNU’s research team led by Professor Hou Xianguang of the Yunnan Key Laboratory for Paleontology along with researchers from Oxford, the University of Manchester, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Zhai Dayou, deputy researcher at YNU, is the primary author of the paper, while researchers Liu Yu and Hou Xianguang are corresponding authors.

The research project received financial support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Yunnan Department of Science and Technology.
