An awards ceremony was held at Yunnan University -- also known as YNU -- on Oct 22, to honor high-level personnel in Yunnan province in 2018 and 2019.
According to an announcement at the ceremony, a total of 1,865 people were selected in Yunnan province's high-level personnel plans in 2018 and 2019.
Addressing the ceremony, Li Xiaosan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, said that highly skilled professionals were of great significance to the province's development.
Li added that all government departments should put more focus on recruiting highly-skilled professionals.
Personnel selected should take responsibility of leading development and make contributions to the country's and the province's high-quality development, Li added.
At the ceremony, Lin Wenxun, Party secretary of YNU, gave a briefing on the university's practices in introducing high-level personnel -- and said that the university would make good use of top people to build itself into a world-class university.
YNU President Fang Jingyun, presiding over the ceremony, said that the university will continuously deepen reforms of its system and mechanisms for talent development -- and gave strong intellectual support to Yunnan province's growth.
Other key dignitaries also addressed the event. They included Sun Hang, director of the Kunming Institute of Botany at the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Zhang Changxing, a top teacher from the Faculty of Civil Aviation and Aeronautics at Kunming University of Science and Technology, and Tang Kaixue, Party secretary of the Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
