Yunnan economic society's annual conference held at YNU

The 2019 annual conference of the Yunnan economic society, themed on "development and innovation", was held at Yunnan University in Kunming in Yunnan's provincial capital on Nov 9, university officials said.

Also held on the day at YNU was an academic forum, they added.

Yang Xianming, chairman of the Yunnan economic society and professor at YNU's Development Institute, gave a report on the society's work in 2019.

Li Jianyu, deputy Party secretary of YNU, said at the conference that since its establishment, the Yunnan economic society had attracted a number of renowned economic experts and academics -- as well as many younger fine minds.

It had played an important role in promoting the development of academic economics disciplines, as well as the province's economic growth.

Li urged the society to strengthen its research and innovation capabilities and offer stronger intelligence and professional support for the province's steady economic and social development.

The conference advocated that economists conduct in-depth explorations of China's economic problems and seek solutions with economics theory and methods.

During the academic forum, many academics and professors from universities in Yunnan delivered speeches on economics, discussing development in the field.
