A delegation from the Yunnan Ecology and Environment Department visited Yunnan University -- also known as YNU -- on Nov 14, to survey its work in environmental management.
The delegation was led by Gao Zhengwen, deputy director of the department and was joined by representatives from the Yunnan Education Department and YNU. They visited YNU's Chenggong campus, to get to learn about its greening methodology.
At a meeting, Gao attached importance to the development of green universities, which is a national environmental protection plan in universities, and gave some advice on the work at YNU.
Gao also gave a briefing on preparations for the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, or COP15, which will be held in Kunming in 2020.
He urged YNU to provide support in the form of volunteer services for the event.
Li Jianyu, deputy Party secretary of YNU, said that the university would promote work on environmental management -- advocate green technologies, accelerate the transformation of scientific research achievements related to environment protection, and more.
