Updated: 2019-11-22

A delegation from Yunnan University visited the Confucius Institute at North South University in Bangladesh on Nov 15, led by Lin Wenxun, Party secretary of YNU.

Benajir Ahmed, chairman of the board of directors of North South University, as well as Atique Islam, president of the university and other officials, welcomed the delegation and discussed cooperation and education issues.

Lin thanked the university's support for the Confucius Institute and spoke highly of the cooperative achievements in Chinese language teaching, scientific research and other fields that has taken place since 2006.

The two universities signed a new memorandum of cooperation in June this year, under which both will further cooperate in developing a Chinese and Bengalese major at North South University.

They will also cooperate in providing more chances for Bangladeshi students to study at YNU and donating Chinese books to the North South University Library, Lin added.

Visiting the Confucius Institute at North South University, the delegation members met teachers and volunteers.

Lin thanked them for their work in promoting China-Bangladesh language exchanges and cooperation between two universities. He also welcomed them to come and study at YNU.

Confucius Institutes are nonprofit public institutions affiliated with the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.

They aim to promote Chinese language and culture around the world. The Confucius Institute at North South University was jointly established by North South University and YNU in 2006.
