Hosted by the Education Department of Yunnan Province and the Department of Human Resources and Social Security of Yunnan Province, the finals of the province's 2019 "Taichuang cup" job-hunting contest were held at Yunnan Normal University, on Nov 29.
Some 100,000 students from over 70 universities and colleges in Yunnan province participated in the contest, which ran about two months.
The organizers said more than 500 made it through to the finals.
The event aimed to showcase universities and colleges' professional training and improve the job-hunting abilities of students, the organizers added.
Seven students from Yunnan University, also known as YNU, participated in the finals and won two gold medals and one silver medal during the seven rounds of competitions.
YNU organized two rounds of the competitions before the provincial finals, namely a school-level round and a university-level one. It also offered lectures and training on job-hunting skills, designing resumes, the correct etiquette when seeking a job and more, with participation of more than 2,000 students.
Fourteen students were selected at the university-level competitions and took part in a two-week training, after which seven contestants were selected to participate in the provincial finals.
In recent years, YNU has strengthened the training for its students' job-hunting skills. It has focused on career planning, improving employment levels and honing their entrepreneurship skills -- as well as organized events -- to help students find high-quality jobs and improve their job satisfaction.
