YNU, Sun Yat-sen University deepen ties

A delegation from Yunnan University led by its Party secretary Lin Wenxun visited Sun Yat-sen University, or SYSU, in Guangzhou in Guangdong province on Dec 15 to discuss further cooperation, YNU officials said.

Vice presidents Zhao Qihua and Duan Hongyun of YNU, and other university officials participated in the visit.

Chen Chunsheng, Party secretary of SYSU and Yang Qinghua, vice president of the university, held a meeting with the YNU delegation.

Chen said that the two universities had a long cooperation history with a good foundation and had established a partnership in disciplines such as ethnology, ecology, life sciences and the geosciences, as well as in the social services.

Chen said he expected that the two would deepen their cooperation in these areas and improve their abilities to promote economic and social development.

Lin said that the YNU was building itself into a world-class university with world-class disciplines.

He thanked SYSU's long-term support for YNU, hoping  the two would deepen ties in developing academic disciplines, training of professionals and teachers and scientific and technological research.

The YNU delegation also visited SYSU's history museum.
