Professor Yang Rongxiang delivered a report on the evolution of Chinese parts of speech in the history of Chinese grammar, for the 105th Donglu High-end Forum at Yunnan University on Jan 3, according to YNU officials.
Yang, a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor of the Department of Humanities at Peking University, is engaged in teaching and research of the History of Chinese Grammar, the vocabulary of Ancient Chinese and Modern Chinese.
The forum was hosted by professor Luo Jiangwen, vice-president of the School of International Studies.
Teachers and students of the School of Literature and officers of the Social Sciences Administration Department at YNU attended the forum.
Professor Yang expounded and explained the classification of Chinese parts of speech, through a system classifying them at different times as well as the differences between them -- stressing the number of the changes increased as time went by.
The forum gave scholars, teachers and students a chance to further discuss research on Chinese parts of speech.
