A total of 17 majors at Yunnan University (YNU) were selected among the nation's first-class undergraduate majors in 2019, and 13 majors were selected as provincial first-class, according to a recent announcement from the Ministry of Education.
YNU officials said that the results will power the university's "double first-class construction", which means developing YNU into a world-class university with world-class disciplines.
Officials said that YNU nominated 20 major for the national first-class ranking and 30 for provincial first-class, and the results were inspiring.
The 17 national first-class undergraduate majors are law, political science and public administration, ethnology, Chinese language and literature, Burmese, journalism, history, chemistry, ecology, statistics, communication engineering, computer science and technology, software engineering, business management, public affairs administration, archival science, and tourism management.
The 13 provincial first-class undergraduate majors are philosophy, finance, international economics and trade, English, mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, astronomy, atmospheric science, geology, bioscience, cyberspace security, pharmaceutical engineering, and environmental science, and engineering.
University officials said that the results will inspire YNU to deepen structural optimization of majors and strengthen its capabilities in training professionals.
