CAS academician visits YNU

Chen Xiaoping, an academician at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, visited Yunnan University on Jan 15, according to YNU officials.

Fang Jinyun, president of YNU; Zhao Qihua, vice president of YNU; Bai Song, deputy director of the Health Commission of Yunnan Province and Wei Jia, director of the Second People's Hospital of Yunnan Province, as well as other teachers and officials of YNU, attended the meeting with Chen.

Fang told the meeting that Chen is an expert in the field of hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery in China.

YNU is currently advancing the construction of medical disciplines and Chen made suggestions for the development of the disciplines, which gave strong support for the university, according to the YNU president.

Bai Song and Wei Jia expressed their gratitude to Chen for his long-term concern about and assistance in the field of medicine in Yunnan province.

They added that they hoped for more guidance in promoting the development of biological health and biomedicines in the province in the future.

During the meeting, Chen praised the recent developments at YNU and gave advice on its training of professionals. Chen said he expected YNU to seize opportunities in innovation and achieve greater achievements.

Before the meeting, Chen also visited the campus of YNU, to learn about its development.
