A delegation from the School of Ecology and Environmental Science at Yunnan University visited Hebian village in Fengqing county in southwestern Yunnan province on Jan 6-8, according to YNU officials.
Li Qingjun, dean of the school, Wei Guoling, deputy dean of the school and officials from the State Key Laboratory for Conservation and Utilization of Bio-Resources in Yunnan, participated in the visit.
They went to visit villagers and checked poverty reduction conditions there, as well as conducted a survey on local ecological tourism development, biodiversity and ecological environment protection.
Fengqing county is YNU’s poverty alleviation project, officials said.
YNU officials visited villagers in the county to get to know about their recent lives, as well as their achievements in poverty reduction and difficulties.
The delegation also visited a tea leaf factory and villagers’ activity center there, which were built with the help of YNU.
