YNU students act in epidemic prevention, control

Updated: 2020-02-18

During the critical stage of the prevention and control of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, students of Yunnan University have been expressing their solidarity and concern – and have been actively participating in the epidemic prevention and controlling work, according to YNU officials.

Wang Wange, a YNU student living in Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak in China, has been working as a volunteer at a hospital in the city since Jan 29.

"It has nothing to do with your age,” the young student declared. “As long as you want to give, you can fight the epidemic with millions of people," she added.

In other places in the country, YNU students are working on the front lines of the prevention and control of the epidemic.

YNU student Yang Yang in Heilongjiang province acts as a volunteer at local passenger station, responsible for registering passengers’ information.

Elsewhere, Yang Yuqi in Dalian in Liaoning province also acts as a volunteer at local station to measure passengers’ body temperatures and check whether they are wearing masks, while Dang Hui in Inner Mongolia autonomous region also works as a volunteer to offer services in a village.

Officials said YNU students in Henan, Urumchi and in other places are also providing voluntary services in  epidemic prevention and controlling work.

In addition, students are also donating their money to places where there is a shortage of materials,  university officials said.
