Liu Zhenghao, a postgraduate student from Yunnan University, worked as a community volunteer in his hometown Huanggang -- a city in Central China's Hubei province and the epicenter of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak in China, according to YNU reports.
Officials said that as a coronavirus-hit city, Huanggang implemented comprehensive closed-off management in all communities in mid-February and community volunteers bought and shipped daily necessaries to all residents.
Liu worked as a volunteer in Jianxin Community in Huangzhou district, participating in purchasing, counting, and distribution of vegetables for residents.
A student at YNU’s school of software, Liu used his knowledge to design an online questionnaire, enabling residents to choose the vegetable they wanted and saving a lot of administrative time.
Officials said residents at the community can now get fresh vegetables every morning.
Liu said that at the beginning, he was a little afraid, because the Huangzhou district was one of the areas seriously hit by the epidemic, but as a Party member and a young man he was committed to doing do a job at the front.
“This time I deeply learned the true essence of the expression ‘serving the people’,” Liu said.
