A delegation from the Medical Products Administration of Yunnan Province, led by its director Liu Benjun, visited Yunnan University and the Second People’s Hospital of Yunnan Province on March 9, to help with work on the development of novel coronavirus detection technologies.

At Yunnan University, Lin Wenxun, Party committee secretary of YNU and Zhang Li, vice president of YNU, held a meeting with experts.

Addressing the meeting, Lin canvassed the opinions and suggestions of experts -- focusing on the scientific rigor, levels of advancement and accuracy of the detection technology -- so as to help improve the technology and accelerate its application.

Lin expressed the hope that by taking joint research on detection technology as an opportunity, various departments could exploit their advantages to the full and advance the development of Yunnan’s medical and health undertakings and the entire health sector.

At the meeting, the joint research team reported on the results achieved to date in the detection technology and the next steps needed to be taken for it to be improved and applied in hospitals and other medical detection institutions.
