Yunnan restarts opening colleges and schools

A meeting about the start of the 2020 spring semester and epidemic prevention and control at colleges and schools was held in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province, on March 17, according to the organizers.

It was announced at the meeting that from March 16, teachers at colleges and schools had  returned to work and since March 23, colleges and schools in the province would start re-opening in groups.

Representatives from related education departments attended the meeting, including Lin Wenxun, Party committee secretary of Yunnan University, also known as YNU.

Chen Shun, vice governor of Yunnan province, stressed at the meeting that all departments should make comprehensive plans for epidemic prevention and control at colleges and schools, as well as make emergency plans, ensuring teachers and student safety.

YNU Party committee secretary Lin Wenxun told the meeting that since the outbreak of epidemic, YNU had established several working groups and comprehensive epidemic prevention and control measures, to ensure the health of teachers and students.

Lin added that after schools restart, YNU will strengthen prevention and control measures, to ensure implementation of orderly education plans.

At a parallel session at YNU, university officials including Li Jianyu and Chen Huaxian, both Party committee deputy secretaries, discussed specific epidemic prevention and control measures.
