Brief introduction to Chiang Mai University
Chiang Mai University, or CMU, is the third-ranked comprehensive public university in Thailand. Founded in 1964, it is the first higher education institution in northern Thailand and the first provincial university in Thailand.
CMU is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world for its good international reputation and strict academic standards. The school aims to train graduates with noble moral ideals, pragmatic professional skills, sound thinking methods and sustainable development concepts.
Since its establishment, CMU has been committed to building a comprehensive educational institution with high-quality teaching and academic research. In terms of scientific research, CMU attaches great importance to innovation and development, in order to improve the level of teaching and technological transformation and help regional social and economic development.
At present, the university has 21 faculties, three research institutes and a graduate school. It boasts about 2,050 teaching and research staff and more than 30,000 students. CMU has four campuses covering a total area of 1,409 hectares, all equipped with first-class learning facilities and living facilities, creating a good learning and living environment for students.
CMU established the School of Arts, Media and Technology in 2003, which is located on the Sri Bua Baan campus. The school is committed to providing technological innovation and human resources support for the tourism, handicrafts, software and logistics industries in northern Thailand.
The modern management and information technology major established by the school emphasizes the application of modern information technology in all aspects of modern enterprise management, especially in supply chain management.
Courses in this major includes economics, management theory, transnational logistics management, basic theory, methods and technologies of supply chain system analysis, design and operations, business simulation management, enterprise resource management planning, and more.
This major adopts a joint training mode, paying attention to the improvement of a student’s practical abilities and internationalization abilities and enriches the learning experience of students through the combination of students, educational institutions and enterprises. At present, this major has established cooperative projects with Lumiere University of Science and Technology, Lumiere University and the University of Lyon II in France. At the same time, programs such as visits to schools, short-term exchanges and training in basic courses are also carried out. It cultivates students' ability to flexibly apply theoretical knowledge to the needs of the market and businesses in a variety of ways.
