Two papers by professors Zhou Ping and Gao Wei from Yunnan University – in Kunming, capital of China’s Southwest Yunnan province -- were recently published in the prestigious journal Social Sciences in China, marking the first time that two professors from the campus have published articles in China's most important academic journal at the same time, according to YNU officials.
Professor Zhou Ping from the Institute of National Politics of YNU published "Basic Social and Political Mechanism of the Modern State -- Based on the Analysis Perspective of the Nationality". This clarified the interactions between the nationality and the modern state, pointing out that nationality is considered to be the basic political mechanism of the modern state.
Experts said that the achievement was obtained from the research of ethnic politics, which not only highlights the unique value of research in this field, but also opens up new space for ethnic politics research.
Professor Gao Wei from the Law School of YNU published "Reconstructing the Principle of Legality". This postulated that as a product of scientism and rationalism, the principle of legality is subject to the changes of the times and theoretical presuppositions -- and the principle should be adhered to and reformed.
Experts said that the achievement, as an important research achievement in law, will promote in-depth research in China's law-related fields.
Social Sciences in China was launched in January 1980 as a bimonthly publication but changed to being a monthly journal in 2012.
It is a comprehensive social science journal hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, mainly publishing the latest and most important academic research results in the field of humanities and social sciences in China.
Academics have hailed it as the journal with the highest level and coverage of comprehensive humanities and social sciences in China.
YNU officials said that the publications in the journal would help advance the political science and law disciplines in the university.
