Changxin International College of Art

Changxin International College of Art at Yunnan University was established in 2016 by YNU and the Beijing Cultural Development Foundation Zhou Changxin Art Fund -- aiming to invest in Yunnan's education, culture and creativity in an art-orientated way, as well as trying to use art to promote the development of culture and education in Southwest China's Yunnan province.

The college insists on undergraduate teaching and professional training as being its core tasks. It currently has 637 students, including 397 undergraduates, 180 full-time postgraduates and 60 part-time postgraduates. The graduates educated and cultivated there have the advantage of a solid foundation and strong proficiency in art and have good employment prospects.

It has hired nearly 60 leading artists and art educators from various art fields in China and cooperated with international colleges of art in teaching management models, training standards, curriculums, textbooks and teaching teams, to cultivate professionals with an international perspective that meet the needs of national development strategies and the local social, economic and cultural development in Yunnan province. It aims to develop into a world-class college of art.

The followings are the main disciplines of the college:

Fine Arts

Training objectives: This major trains senior professionals in teaching, scientific research, criticism, creation, editing, curation, art management and museum management in the fields of art history and art education.

Duration: 4 years

Degree category: Bachelor of Arts

Main courses: general history of Chinese and foreign art, modern and contemporary art trends in China and the West, philosophy of art, selected classics of Chinese and Western aesthetics, selected lectures on Chinese and Western painting, art criticism and writing, basics of museology, art planning and management, etc.

Employment direction: After graduation, students can work in fine arts education, fine arts research and criticism, arts and cultural management, the press and publishing and other areas.

Painting

Training objectives: This major trains senior professionals in creating art and painting, teaching and research capabilities -- and to have the ability to engage in creation, teaching and research, the press and publications and in management in cultural and arts organizations.

Duration: 4 years

Degree category: Bachelor of Arts

Main courses: professional black and white woodcut techniques, color woodcut techniques, comprehensive prints, copper prints, a foundation in ceramic decoration and in ceramic modeling, history of world ceramics, perspectives and composition, sketching and composition, sketch research, color research, character sketching, landscape sketching, contemporary painting creation and research, history of Chinese and Western art, introduction to art, Chinese painting sketches, sketching and creating, freehand characters, freehand flowers and birds, freehand landscapes, calligraphy and seal carving, etc.

Employment direction: Engaged in creating, teaching, research, the press and publications and management in relevant cultural and art organizations.
