Alumi donated novel coronavirus prevention materials valued at 1 million yuan ($141,424) to Yunnan University on April 30 -- to help students returning to the university, based in Kunming city in Yunnan province in southwestern China, avoid the outbreak, according to YNU reports.

The materials donated by Yunnan University Alumni General Association's Guo's education fund included 190,000 disposable medical face masks, 19,000 bars of disinfection gelatum, 19,000 cakes of medicated soap and 57,000 packs of disinfectant wipes.

Xia Jing, president assistant of the education fund, donated the materials on behalf of the foundation. Li Chenyang, executive vice president of YNU, received the donation and promised that the materials would be given to students as soon as possible.

The Guo's education fund was established in 2019 by Guo Zhenyu, who was a postgraduate student in radio major at YNU. The fund aims to support the reform and development of YNU's educational cause.

Last year, the fund launched an innovation and entrepreneurship award funding project, donating 500,000 yuan every year to support excellent innovation and entrepreneurship projects at YNU -- and to encourage teachers and students to carry out scientific research activities and improve the overall ability of innovation and entrepreneurship.

This donation is a special present for YNU during the epidemic prevention and control period, officials said.
