YNU, Tencent join hands in IT development

A delegation from Chinese tech giant Tencent visited Yunnan University -- in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province on May 27 -- to discuss cooperation in IT development and other areas, according to YNU officials.

Ding Zhongtao, vice-president of YNU, welcomed the delegation and gave a briefing on YNU's developments in recent years. He thanked the company for its technical support for online teaching carried during the novel coronavirus epidemic this year.

The vice-president said that closer links between the two would help a great deal in strengthening the university's management, teaching and scientific research levels by applying information technology -- and he urged the two to expand their cooperation to deepen education reforms.

Tencent officials talked about their company's technical support for online teaching at universities and colleges and offered suggestions to YNU in the development of information technology.

They also discussed the problems surrounding online teaching and promised to continue to offer support for the development of YNU's informatization.

Representatives from both sides also discussed about building a smart campus at YNU.
