YNU establishes federation of social science circles

The federation of social science circles of Yunnan University was established on June 8 at the university in Kunming -- capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province -- after getting the green light from the Yunnan Federation of Social Science Circles, according to YNU reports.

The new federation's first conference was also held on the day, with attendees from the Yunnan Federation of Social Science Circles and related departments of YNU.

Wang Jianhua, vice-chairman of the provincial federation and Yang Zeyu, vice-president of YNU, jointly inaugurated the new federation at the meeting, during which members of its standing committee were selected.

Wang urged the new federation to improve an understanding of the importance of philosophy and social sciences.

He also urged it to focus on promoting the province's high-quality development and strive to play a demonstrative role in the province's universities and colleges.

Yang, the newly selected chairman of the new federation, said that it will adopt a raft of measures to develop the university's philosophy and social sciences.
