Yunnan University -- situated in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province -- got the green light from authorities to be a national-level intellectual property, or IP, information service center, YNU officials announced on June 23.
The center was recognized by the National Intellectual Property Administration and the Ministry of Education, making it the first national-level university IP information service center in Yunnan.
YNU officials said that its IP information service center -- which was established in 2018 -- is mainly engaged in IP information literacy training, IP information consultations, IP information and related data collection and analysis of high-tech development trends, among other things.
The center supports the disciplinary development and innovative scientific research of YNU, raises the profile of IP information knowledge and skills with teachers and students and assists with the transformation of IP rights, according to officials.
It has participated in a number of major projects for the National Intellectual Property Administration, the Intellectual Property Office of Yunnan Province and the Yunnan provincial government and also established partnerships with many companies and institutes in the province, offering them IP information services,
Officials said that in the wake of its new status, the center will give full play to its advantages in information resources and human resources, to enrich the content of IP information services and provide IP creation, use, protection and management services.
They said it will also train more high-level IP information service personnel and it will also establish an IP information public service network, to support YNU's "double first-class" development -- its efforts to build itself into a world-class university with world-class disciplines -- as well as support local economic and industrial development.
