The finals of the sixth "internet +" college students innovation and entrepreneurship contest of Yunnan University was held recently at the campus in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province, according to YNU officials.
They said that the semi-final was held on July 10 online, with participation of more than 400 projects out of a total of 1,269 that applied -- and 261 projects made it into the finals on July 19.
Contestants participated in the finals in 19 group and 38 gold awards and 93 silver awards were handed out, with those triumphing now set to compete in the provincial contest in August.
The competition, which has been successfully held for six seasons, is closely followed by YNU officials, teachers and students.
YNU officials said it helps the university's innovation and entrepreneurship and has led to achievements.
For example, YNU was listed as one of the top 50 national innovation and entrepreneurship demonstration universities in 2019, officials said.
Last year 608 innovation and entrepreneurship projects were approved by the university, 106 approved by the province and 45 approved nationally.
Students and teachers at YNU are increasingly passionate in innovation and entrepreneurship projects, according to officials.
