The asset and laboratory management department at Yunnan University -- whose main campuses are in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province -- recently held a series of safety themed activities, to raise students and teachers' awareness of the absolute need for safety in laboratories, YNU officials said.
On June 12, the department cooperated with the School of Life Sciences to hold an experience-sharing meeting on biosafety, stressing that laboratory safety was paramount.
Officials said that on June 24, an experts meeting was held, with experts discussing laboratory safety.
From July 3-10, a team of experts inspected 12 laboratories in the YNU Donglu campus and its Chenggong campus, to carry out safety preparations before the summer holidays.
Officials said that the regulations have been oriented for the use of the special equipment at the laboratories and the university has also organized training for teachers.
YNU officials said these measures all aim to eliminate security risks and prevent accidents -- so as to ensure the life, property and safety of teachers and students.
