YNU chemical entrepot warehouse comes into use

The chemical entrepot warehouse belonging to the School of Ecology and Environmental Science of Yunnan University (YNU) was put into use on Aug 13.

The warehouse has upgraded the fireproofing, anti-explosion, anti-storm, anti-static and anti-leakage facilities of the laboratory it was transformed from.

In addition, it has installed cabinets for flammable, explosive, toxic, harmful, and corrosive chemicals; ventilation devices for the filtration and treatment of poisonous and detrimental gases; workbenches for drug metage and sub-packaging; and environmental monitoring systems.

The entire warehouse is equipped with video surveillance and automatic alarm systems. The chemicals will be registered before entry and be subjected to a "Double Person, Double Lock" management model.

The passageways near the warehouse contain emergency protection facilities such as emergency shower rooms, eye-washing equipment and lavatories.

Moreover, the university has also set up warehouses for highly toxic items and cabinets for the temporary storage of hazardous waste. It is taking the lead in Yunnan province in terms of the standardized management of the safe transfer of laboratory chemicals, as well as the temporary storage and environmental disposal of hazardous waste.
