My Research Activities on COVID-19 to Fight

Updated: 2020-08-24

I am an MSc student (international) in Mechanical Engineering Dept, currently working on pipeline inspection gauge project. When lockdown imposed in Malaysia since then a thinking coming around my head that how can I give some contribution in the current COVID-19 situation as a research student. Then I started reading some published articles on COVID-19. After reading the articles I feel that I should also write some valuable research or review articles on COVID-19. Then depend on the current situation I have first chosen to write a review article on Drugs and treatment process of COVID-19 as currently no significant treatment or drug is available for covid-19. So I feel, I should put some contribution on this topics to support current situation although I am from different field but for me research should drive by current situation. Therefore after studying so many literature finally I have written a review article “Current Drugs with Potential for Treatment of COVID-19: A Literature Review” [1] which has published in Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (JPPS) an official journal of Canadian Society for Pharmaceutical Sciences (CSPS), Impact Factor 1.922 by Web of Science (JCR). This article was published at 4 April 2020 and till date it received 8 citation from google scholar and 8700 readers from research gate.

After completing this review article I with my co-authors conducted an online survey among some general people to show their understanding on COVID-19 and with their opinion we write an article to aware general people about COVID-19. Currently this article titled “Understanding of General People about COVID-19: A Cross-Sectional Online Survey and Qualitative Presentation” [2] has published in a Scopus Indexed Journal Turkey Clinical Journal of Medical Sciences.

Recently another of my review article titled “"Study of ongoing registered clinical trials on COVID-19: a narrative review" [3] has accepted in São Paulo Medical Journal, official journal of Associação Paulista de Medicina – APM, Impact Factor 1.13 by Web of Science (JCR).Additionally my one more article on treatment protocol of COVID-19 in Indian-Sub Continent is in under review of a journal.

Apart from these I have reviewed five articles on COVID-19 from three journals-Signa Vitae Journal of Anaesthesia, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine (IF= 0.27 by JCR), Chinese Journal of Natural Medicine (Elsevier) and International Research Journal of Public and Environmental Health upon their invitation to support the current pandemic situation.

I am sharing my research activities on COVID-19 so that other young researchers from different fields of study will get inspiration and motivation to support any national or global crisis with their research knowledge by working together with other fields. I am from totally different field of study but my willpower and social responsibility assist me to work on current global crisis to contribute a little bit in research world without sitting idle in home quarantine. However, I don’t know my works are supporting the current situation a little bit or not but I have tried my best as a Masters level research student to support other fields which is totally different from me. To me if any researcher whatever his /her field, has capacity to support any global/national crisis, then he/she should come forward. Together we can defeat any big crisis easily. Hope my story to fighting against COVID-19 will inspire and motivate young researchers and students.
