A research expert group on ministry-province co-construction of universities paid a visit to Yunnan University (YNU) on Aug 27 to conduct a survey on the efforts of jointly building a university by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Yunnan province.

Led by Yin Dongmei, deputy Party secretary of Fudan University, the research group consisted of seven experts from the development planning department of the MOE, Fudan University, and Lanzhou University.

Zhang Jinsong, the first-level inspector of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, Ding Zhongtao and Zhao Qihua, the vice presidents of YNU, as well as leaders of related disciplines of YNU and heads of relevant departments participated in the survey, discussion, and exchange activities.

Zhang focused on Yunnan's implementation of the ministry-province co-construction agreement. He said that the Yunnan Education Department and relevant departments will continue to support the rapid development of YNU. Zhao introduced the development path, methods, measures, and results achieved since the joint construction of YNU by the MOE and Yunnan province, as well as the future development of the university.

Yin noted that the research will form a systematic and reference-worthy report, which will enhance the cooperation between universities, thereby promoting the advancement of the ministry-province co-construction of universities and the "double first-class" construction of YNU.

The expert group also conducted field investigations on the important supporting platforms of relevant characteristic disciplines, such as the ecology laboratory, the experimental platform of the life science research center, and the experimental animal center.
