Party Secretary Jiao Yang and Vice President Zhang Zhiyong of Fudan University paid a visit to Yunnan University (YNU) on Aug 27 to discuss strengthening counterpart assistance in education.

At a symposium, participants from the two universities exchanged views on a variety of topics, such as further deepening cooperation and ministry-province co-construction work, promoting "double first-class construction", and improving the ability to serve the national strategy, as well as local economic and social development.

Jiao said that Fudan University will inject new vitality into deepening the cooperation between the two universities by improving the counterpart cooperation working mechanism, focusing on the task of discipline construction, as well as enhancing the level of cooperation in scientific research and innovation.

Lin Wenxun, Party secretary of YNU, stressed that YNU will focus on the four areas of talent training for ethnic governance in border areas, regional national research and peripheral diplomacy, paleontology, as well as new drug research and development to further deepen cooperation and make greater contributions to local economic and social development.

The partner assistance relations between Fudan and YNU have been around for nearly 20 years, with a regular mechanism of mutual visits and cooperation established. The two sides have reached consensus on the joint training of students, the sharing of teaching and research resources, the construction of academic degree programs, as well as the further training of teachers and cadres. More than 10 cooperation agreements have been signed to accelerate the high-quality development of YNU.
