According to an announcement made by the Department of Education of Yunnan Province, two students from Yunnan University (YNU) have been awarded with provincial honorary titles.
Wang Wange, a 2018 undergraduate student majoring in Visual Communication Design at the Changxin International College of Art of YNU, was selected as "The 15th Yunnan Provincial College Student of the Year," while Yu Xiangjun, an undergraduate student of YNU's School of Journalism, was awarded "The 15th Outstanding College Student of Yunnan Province."
Wang grew up in Wuhan, Hubei province, where the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) was first detected. During the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, she took the initiative to apply to join the volunteer team set up by non-front-line personnel of the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army Central Theater Command, where she acted as a materials coordination liaison, responsible for tracking, confirming, and distributing medical supplies donated to hospitals by caring individuals and organizations across the country, as well as accepting donation consultations from the public.
"I have gained a lot through the volunteer activities. The days of fighting COVID-19 with everyone were exhausting, but exceptionally fulfilling," said Wang.

She discussed topics with youth representatives from various countries during the competition, as well as maintained contact and communication with representatives after coming back home, sharing China's experiences with foreign friends in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.
