The launching ceremony of the social practice base for college students jointly built by Yunnan University (YNU) and Kaiyuan, Yunnan province was held in city on Oct 12. Government leaders of Kaiyuan, university leaders, the people in charge of the internship unit in Kaiyuan, and 38 YNU students attended the event.

YNU and the Kaiyuan government signed a cooperation agreement and unveiled the plaque of the practice base.

Zheng Mingge, secretary of the Communist Youth League of YNU, said at the opening ceremony that YNU and Kaiyuan signed a strategic cooperation agreement to promote the cooperation between the two parties in January.

Zheng stressed that the joint construction of the social practice base will further promote the in-depth integration of production, teaching, research, and application, as well as encourage YNU students to carry out more extensive and in-depth social practice internship activities, helping college students play an active role in contributing to the local economic and social development of Yunnan province.

Through the establishment of the social practice base, three internships or employment projects will be implemented. Outstanding students from YNU will be selected to come to Kaiyuan for internship training, social practice, employment, and entrepreneurship. The base will be a platform for the university's practical education and the talent reserves of Kaiyuan.

The projects plan to select 200 students to Kaiyuan for social practice within three years, and the first 30 students will begin a three-month internship during this semester.
