Li Yu, general manager of the higher education department of Chinese tech giant Tencent Holdings, visited Yunnan University (YNU) on Oct 26 and had discussions with Ding Zhongtao, vice president of YNU, as well as the heads of relevant functional departments and colleges.
Ding noted that YNU has always focused on serving the national strategy, local economic and social development, as well as the major needs of industries, adding that the project cooperation between YNU and Tencent has been fruitful.
"YNU and Tencent have a huge space for development in the integration of production, teaching, and research, and I hope that we can further expand cooperation in the future," added Ding.
Li gave an overview of Tencent's talent training and university-enterprise cooperation plan, as well as the process, main models, and typical cases of cooperation with the education industry and relevant universities.
He said that YNU has advanced school-running concepts and unique location advantages, adding that Tencent will make full use of its industry-leading technology and platform advantages to build a benchmark for innovative cooperation with higher education institutions through in-depth cooperation.
The two parties also conducted exchanges on smart campuses, talent training, laboratory construction, disciplinary construction and modern technology integration, as well as school-enterprise cooperation and joint construction.
