Bruno Bisson, consul-general of France in Chengdu, and Dorothèe Rihal, the new French president of Alliance Française de Kunming, paid a visit to Yunnan University (YNU) on Oct 28 and exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between Chinese and French universities.
Fang Jingyun, president of YNU, expressed his gratitude to the French Consulate in Chengdu for its support for the exchanges and cooperation between YNU and French universities. Fang stressed that the exchanges and cooperation between YNU and France have reached a new stage since the university signed an agreement with the French Consulate General in Chengdu in 2017 to jointly establish the Alliance Française de Kunming.
Fang also gave an overview of the current COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures at YNU. He added that he hopes to further strengthen cooperation with France in education, while complying with the epidemic prevention and control regulations, as well as to continue to establish contacts with more French universities to contribute to the economic and cultural exchanges between China and France.
Bisson praised YNU for actively expanding cooperation and exchanges with French universities. He said that the resumption of operation of exchange programs like the Alliance Française de Kunming should be accelerated under the COVID-19 epidemic prevention regulations, as well as that the cooperation between French universities and YNU in more fields and the depth of exchanges should also be promoted.
