Yunnan University (YNU) and the Yunnan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office held a symposium on Nov 25 to exchange ideas on carrying out scientific research cooperation and international exchange projects. They also signed a strategic cooperation agreement.
The two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation in multiple areas such as the joint construction of think tank platforms, educational exchanges and cooperation, as well as human resources development.
According to the cooperation agreement, the Yunnan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office will award the "Yunnan Lancang-Mekong River Cooperation Center" and the "Yunnan Lancang-Mekong River Research Institute" to YNU. The two parties will also promote the actual operation and high-quality development of these two institutions.
Wang Wei, deputy director of the Yunnan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, said that the office has attached great importance to cooperation with universities and related research institutions in recent years, adding that it will promote in-depth cooperation in multiple aspects to further build a high-level cooperation platform.
Li Chenyang, vice president of YNU, expressed gratitude to the office for its long-term support to YNU, as well as noted that the university will improve research capabilities and service capabilities to implement the cooperation agreement, providing stronger support for the opening up and high-quality development of Yunnan province.
The person in charge of related departments of the Yunnan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and YNU gave basic introductions of their departments and expressed that they will implement the agreement, promote the deepening and practical cooperation between the two sides, as well as develop plans and suggestions in terms of think tank construction, neighboring diplomacy, the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor, and Lancang-Mekong cooperation.
