A delegation led by Zhang Li, vice-president of Yunnan University (YNU) in Kunming, the capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province, visited Nanjian Yi autonomous county and Fengqing county in the province from Jan 19 to 21, according to university reports.
They investigated how the two areas consolidated achievements in poverty alleviation and learned about their rural revitalization efforts.
The two counties were formerly poverty-stricken areas. Fengqing county was YNU's poverty alleviation target, according to officials, and was lifted out of poverty in 2018, while Nanjian county shook off poverty in 2019.
The delegation visited Nanjian county's smart farmer's market and its health and sanitation projects. An expert workstation for rural revitalization was also established in the county by YNU.
They also inspected the consolidation and expansion of poverty alleviation results, gave suggestions on promoting rural revitalization and accelerating agricultural and rural modernization, and surveyed local industrial developments.
During the survey, Zhang said that shaking off poverty is not the end but the starting point for a new life and new struggle. He urged the work team in the villages not to forget their missions and work for the people.
